The title of Business System Analyst or BSA is given to the analysis professional whose responsibilities begin with the gathering of the stake holders’ requirements and end with functional or technical applications and testing. Business System Analysts who have considerable amount of experience in their profession tend to have strong knowledge in business domain, extensive competencies in system designs and analysis and impressive soft skills. Their knowledge in business domain allows them to efficiently analyze the structures of the business organization, investigate where problems exist or may arise, and make informed suggestions on how to solve the organization’s problems. Their competencies in system analysis and designs allow them to understand and relate to the tasks and job of the technical department. It also allows them to have a grasp on what is technologically possible and what is not. Soft skills allow business system analysts to effectively coordinate and communicate with all the organization departments.
Acquiring up to date knowledge about business, systems and analysis as well as enhancing soft skills are continuous processes. They don’t stop after finishing the necessary training programs or after a considerable number of years of working experience as an analyst. Analysts must keep abreast with innovations in modern technology and modern business practices.
